DIY Ideas – The Perfect Backyard Fire Pit

No matter the time of year, Canadians love a good outdoor fire! Brown’s Oxford fire pit kit is great for a smaller space. With its smaller design and low-profile, it is perfect for a small yard or patio. The gentle features of a round fire pit blend in with a wide variety of architectural styles.

The Oxford fire pit kit includes the stones and ring, conveniently delivered on one pallet. Other materials you’ll need include fire resistant masonry adhesive and 3 bags of sand.

Follow these easy steps by Brown’s Concrete to DIY your own backyard fire pit.

Step 1

Set the ring on a flat, even surface.

Step 2

Lay out the first course of 16 blocks around the ring insert.

Step 3

Make sure the gap between the ring and blocks is even all around and that the ring can be removed with ease.

Step 4

Remove the ring insert and set it aside.

Step 5

Lay out the next 3 courses keeping the joints staggered. Be sure to use fire resistant masonry adhesive between layers, securing them in place permanently.

Step 6

Filling the inside with the 3 bags of sand is required; be sure to spread it out evenly.

Step 7

Set the ring back inside the fire pit and press it down to set it in the sand. It should sit just below the rim of the fire pit blocks.

Grab your Muskoka chairs, marshmallows, and roasting sticks then get ready to enjoy your new outdoor space!
