2. Missing or Broken Shingles

3. Granule Loss

As shingles age, the protective granules on their surface can wear off. Check your gutters or downspouts for a buildup of these granules, or look for bare spots on the shingles themselves. Excessive granule loss reduces your roof’s ability to protect against weather and UV rays.

4. Water Damage

If you notice water stains on interior ceilings or walls, it may mean your shingles are no longer keeping moisture out, and the watertight seal has been compromised. Leaks can lead to bigger problems like mould growth and expensive structural damage, making it critical to replace your shingles promptly. 

5. Visible Moss or Algae 

While moss and algae don’t directly damage shingles, they retain moisture, which can lead to fast-tracked shingle deterioration. If your roof has persistent moss or algae, it’s worth inspecting the shingles more closely for damage.
