From Safety to Aesthetics: 5 Reasons Why We Recommend Beaulieu Flooring
If you’re in the process of deciding on flooring for your home, office, or cottage, the choices can be overwhelming. While the type of flooring might be an easier decision–carpet, ceramic tile, hardwood flooring, or laminate?–vinyl plank flooring is a popular choice with customers, and with good reason!
Not only can you get a natural hardwood look, but the plank style installation makes it easier to install, even for amateur DIYers… and this is just scratching the surface (or not since it’s scratch resistant!) on what makes vinyl plank flooring so great!
We found inspiration from Beaulieu Canada’s engineered luxury vinyl line of products. Our Create This Look featured image shows off the Therma Collection, which we carry in-stock, along with the Rapido and Fresque collections.
Read on for our top 5 reasons why we recommend Beaulieu Canada’s engineered luxury vinyl plank flooring.
1 – Natural Looking Colours
While hardwood flooring is still considered a premium flooring choice, its cost and installation process might make it unattainable for those on a budget or wanting to do the installation themselves.
We love Beaulieu’s engineered vinyl flooring options because the painted macro bevel provides a realistic visual similar to the space between planks that real wood flooring offers.
Plus, Beaulieu offers a variety of modern and inviting colours that are natural-looking and timeless. The Therma collection showcases colour variations that will give your decor a unique character.
2 – Perfect for Any Room
Whether you’re installing flooring at home, the office, or at camp, you’re going to want flooring that can handle a variety of weather and activity levels.
Engineered luxury vinyl flooring is 100% waterproof and has an antimicrobial surface finish, making it an ideal choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and mudrooms.
It can be installed in 3-season cottages (-4 to 122 °F / -20 to 50 °C) and can handle installations of up to 4225 sq. ft. (65 linear ft.) in an open space without transition moldings… although when needed, matching moldings are available.
Engineered luxury vinyl flooring also offers the comfort of knowing it can withstand heavy furniture such as kitchen cabinets and islands. Its versatility makes it an ideal flooring choice for several installations.
3 – Durable & Easy to Install
For active families, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your floors can handle high traffic without signs of wearing. Beaulieu’s high-end collection of engineered luxury vinyl planks is wear resistant thanks to the cork backing and an enhanced finish with ceramic beads. Cork backing provides good thermal and acoustic insulation, making it ideal for high traffic areas and perfect for hosting family and friend gatherings.
Ever notice when some vinyl floorings show all the little bumps, dips, and seams underneath? While we always recommend properly preparing your flooring surface, Beaulieu’s flooring shows no telegraphing, even when installed over hard surface flooring. That means no unsightly waves, bumps, or dips.
Another great point–Its 5Gi locking system ensures easy and sturdy installation, including for floating installation or embedding with radiant heating.
4 – Accountable to Providing High-Quality Products
We care about the quality of the products we provide our customers and are always looking to support Canadian manufacturers and suppliers when possible. So when we heard about Beaulieu’s BLC regulation, we were pleased.
The Beaulieu Lab Certified (BLC) stamp means that for each category of hard surface flooring, many tests are performed to ensure strict quality control and to conform to industry regulation. A physical inspection is executed during the manufacturing process to verify the colour, the length, the width, etc. Each test is documented with detailed reports, photos and videos to guarantee accuracy.
What does this mean for you? Peace of mind! You’ll know that the floor covering you’re buying surpasses industry quality standards.
The image below features Beaulieu’s Fresque collection in Klimt. It’s actually an engineered luxury vinyl tile, but we love the interesting black, grey, and white marble-like pattern. Similar to the Therma collection, Fresque tiles feature a high-density core, foam backing, and the BCL certification, making it another trusted option that provides warmth, comfort, and soundproofing.
5 – Committed to Keeping Families Safe
Do you recall back in 2015 when 60-Minutes reported that American flooring supplier, Lumber Liquidators, sold laminate flooring from China that had been found to emit formaldehyde at levels several times higher than regulations allowed? It certainly raised awareness as to the safety of engineered flooring, especially in laminates.
The safety and health of our customers is a top priority, so we’re confident when recommending Beaulieu products that they’re getting a safe, reliable, and high-quality product.
For example, Beaulieu’s PVC products are phthalate-free, meaning that they will not affect your quality of life. For consumer awareness and assurance, Beaulieu ensures the safety of their products with the following certifications.
FloorScore is the most recognized indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments. It qualifies for many green building schemes including LEED v4, WELL, BREEAM, CHPS, and Green Globes. Plus it certifies compliance with rigorous indoor air quality requirements.
GreenGuard Gold® Certification
The majority of everyday chemical exposure in people occurs through the air we breathe in our homes, offices, schools and other indoor environments. The GreenGuard certification guarantees that
your floor covering doesn’t contain harmful amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOC).Many VOCs are irritants and can cause headaches, eye, nose and throat irritation, and dizziness. Long-term exposure to certain VOCs may lead tochronic diseases or cancer. At high concentrations, some VOCs are toxic.
Products that have achieved GreenGuard certification are scientifically proven to meet some of the world’s most rigorous, third-party chemical emissions standards, helping to reduce indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure, while aiding in the creation of healthier indoor environments.
The Gold certification standard includes health-based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions levels to help ensure that products are acceptable for use in environments like schools and healthcare facilities.
E1 is a European formaldehyde emission standard that grants the limit of formaldehyde emission to be equal to or less than 0.07 ppm, basically it certifies that the product meets the European standard for indoor air quality. In the United States, the equivalent rating system is the California Air Resource Board (CARB). An E1 certified product helps you identify which flooring products are safe and which ones might be a danger to your or your family’s health.
